About Nautilus RF

Nautilus RF’s purpose is to provide in-building signal enhancement solutions for Public Safety and Cellular communications.

Florida Building Code requires builders to use dense building materials like solid concrete exterior walls and Low-E windows. These building materials prevent the tower’s radio frequencies from entering the building which creates dead-spots where users cannot communicate.

Nautilus RF specializes in the design and implementation of in-building wireless systems known as Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDAs) and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). Our solutions take the signal from the nearest radio/cell tower and enhance it throughout the building to provide coverage to its users inside.

Florida Statute 633.202

[UPDATED JULY 1, 2022] (18) The authority having jurisdiction shall determine the minimum radio signal strength for fire department communications in all new and existing buildings. Two-way radio communication enhancement systems or equivalent systems may be used to comply with the minimum radio signal strength requirements.

Existing high-rise buildings as defined by the Florida Building Code are not required to comply with minimum radio strength for fire department communications and two-way radio communication enhancement systems required by the Florida Fire Prevention Code until January 1, 2025. However, by January 1, 2024, an existing high-rise building that is not in compliance with the requirements for minimum radio strength for fire department communications must apply for an appropriate permit for the required installation with the local government agency having jurisdiction and must demonstrate that the building will become compliant by January 1, 2025. Nautilus RF offers free preliminary signal strength testing and on-site consultations. We can educate you about the statute, evaluate your building’s current signal strength, and offer solutions to ensure that your building is up to code.
